Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hate in the UK have reached their highest levels in over a decade, according to a charity that tracks such incidents. ‘Tell Mama’ reported 4,971 cases of anti-Muslim hate and discrimination in the year following the October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel and the continued bombardment of Gaza.

Most incidents, recorded up to the end of September this year, involved abusive behaviour (63%), with just over a quarter (27%) categorised as threatening behaviour. The majority of these incidents occurred in London, as well as in the North West, Yorkshire, and the Midlands, according to the charity.

CST’s data shows that this number is three times higher than the previous year’s total of 1,830 incidents. The majority of incidents (4,583) involved abusive behaviour, with others including threats (401) and assaults (302). CST monitors antisemitism and provides security for the Jewish community across Britain.
