UK and Saudi officials discuss cooperation in energy sector
During a meeting held in Riyadh on Monday, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Claire Coutinho, engaged in discussions regarding cooperation in the energy sector between their respective countries.
The two officials delved into various opportunities within the energy sector as outlined in a memorandum of cooperation signed by Saudi Arabia and the UK in October 2022. Their discussions covered the establishment of comprehensive standards for clean hydrogen, strategies to address emissions at their source, and the formulation of regulations and policies about the capture, transportation, and storage of carbon dioxide, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Both Prince Abdulaziz and Coutinho underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration in renewable energy, petrochemicals, power plants, and the localisation of activities within the energy sector.
