Jordan announced that it is working in coordination with Türkiye, Syria, other Arab nations, and the broader international community to halt what it describes as Israeli aggression on Syrian territory. Speaking at a joint press conference in Ankara alongside his Turkish and Syrian counterparts, Hakan Fidan and Asaad al-Shaibani, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi affirmed a unified stance with Türkiye and Syria in supporting Syria’s sovereignty, stability, and security. He emphasised the collective efforts to address regional challenges and confront shared threats.
Safadi further stated that Jordan remains committed to ensuring a safe and dignified life for the Syrian people following years of conflict and hardship. He noted that discussions with his Turkish and Syrian counterparts focused on practical measures to help revitalise Syria’s institutions and rebuild economic ties. The ministers also addressed strategies to combat Daesh/ISIS and other forms of terrorism, which Safadi described as a common threat to all nations involved.
In addition to the Syrian issue, Safadi reiterated Jordan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to bring an end to Israel’s military campaign. Since October 2023, nearly 52,900 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have reportedly been killed in Gaza as a result of Israeli attacks. International legal proceedings are currently underway, with the International Criminal Court having issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Furthermore, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the besieged enclave.
