Established over 7 years ago, based in London, Eman Channel broadcasts Islamic-centric programmes on Sky 747, Online via our website and various social media platforms.

The field of Islamic Media requires a boost to help engage all members of the Muslim community. We believe that Muslim families should be able to sit together and enjoy entertaining and informative programs, and our channel intends to bring about this positive change. Whilst our programs will provide suitable entertainment for all ages, our Islamic values will always be considered as well as the tolerant and respectful values of the country that host our channel. Viewers will be able to enjoy a large variety of unique and inspiring programs, from educational lectures to cookery and comedy shows.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Media Control Room Operator to join our team to ensure broadcast quality and connectivity is maintained to the highest operational level. As a key member of the production team, they will provide critical responses in a dynamic broadcasting environment.

The MCR Operator will work with the wider operations team ensuring everyday broadcasting quality and precision is maintained to the highest standards.

The ideal candidate will need to be a clear and confident communicator, be able to adapt quickly to on-air changes and remain calm under pressure. Their aim will be to ensure the highest quality visual presentation that informs and inspires viewers and audiences from all around the world. An ability to focus and maintain concentration while being flexible to problem solve is key.

In this role, the MCR Operator will be an integral part of Eman Channels production team, and they will work under the guidance of the production manager. The successful candidate will be assigned to Eman Channel Live shows based in Ilford East London the MCR Operator will be working with broadcast systems such as Black Magic Atem & software such as Vmix.

Remuneration: Dependant on experience (negotiable)

Type: 30 to 40 Hours per week (shifts covering any of the 7 days of the week)

Base Location: East London (and remote as and when feasible)

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and maintain set up and shutdown procedures and checklists
  • Assisting other departments with the signals/feeds and the ingesting of media.
  • Ability to make critical assessments of video and audio contributions.
  • Proactive monitoring and vision mixing.
  • Monitor distribution paths on all public platforms and assigned content partners such as Facebook,
    YouTube, Instagram and any other distribution partners worldwide and monitor throughout the production.
  • Rapid action to restore service using pre-defined emergency procedures.
  • Platform channel management, advert, ticker or filler insertion during live programmes.
  • Monitoring of all transmission equipment and software, escalating faults accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate and timely entries into the programme daily logs throughout the show.
  • Managing the system to ensure that minimum disruption to services is caused by equipment failures.
  • Oversee and perform post-live programme transfers back to standard pre-recorded shows on the EPG ensuring timings are correct.
  • Performing regular reporting on performance programmes, cast and crew by identifying and tracking data for KPI.
  • Adhering to our company H&S policy and ensuring that all company risk assessments are observed where applicable to your role.
  • Taking ownership of improvements and escalating concerns where necessary.

 Requirements:

  • Media Degree or relevant qualifications
  • Ability to work in a live broadcast environment and maintain focus and the ability to accommodate high pressure requests and tight deadlines.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of new and emerging Broadcast Technologies.
  • Time management and how-to prioritise workload and asks.
  • Key communicator – can listen and understand requests and incorporate other viewpoints in the approach to work and problem solving.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite apps, and ability to learn and utilise Vmix.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure.
  • Good communication skills both face to face and on the phone
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must be able to work autonomously and within a team
